What is Nourished Futures?
At a time when humanitarian needs are rising and public funding is tightening; traditional funding models are no longer sufficient.
Save the Children is building the next generation of malnutrition solutions through Nourished Futures, a $300 million humanitarian nutrition initiative for 2026–2028 that combines prevention, treatment, innovation, and local leadership in a single, integrated and scalable approach to child survival.
Nourished Futures is a global initiative from Save the Children, bringing together public and private funders to treat and prevent child malnutrition and illness in the toughest humanitarian contexts.
Partners joining this initiative are not just funding another project, they are helping reshape the future of humanitarian nutrition.
Working together in partnership, we aim to:
- Prevent malnutrition for 20 million mothers and children under five
- Treat over 2 million children with malnutrition and preventable illness
- Avert the deaths of 350,000 children
- Strengthen the systems that keep families healthy in the highest-need countries such as Sudan, Nigeria and DRC.
This map of the world shows the 20 countries this humanitarian nutrition initiative will be prioritising. Save the Children International
This is a once in a generation opportunity to fundamentally redesign the way the world treats malnutrition – from a reactive system focused on treating crisis to one that prevents it entirely. Will you join us?
Why Now?
Malnutrition is one of the greatest and most preventable threats to children’s survival. The solutions are simple. Yet, funding cuts and converging crises mean more children are in urgent need of treatment and lasting solutions.
Hunger: The Solution
We know what works. From preventing malnutrition before it starts, to delivering life-saving treatment, to strengthening food systems – the solutions are proven and scalable.
Innovative Approaches
We invest in innovations that reach underserved populations, strengthen local ownership, make programmes more inclusive, and ensure communities themselves help shape the solutions that affect their lives.
