The Innovation and Learning Specialist will use their in-depth contextual understanding, technical expertise, and relationship building skills to define and deliver U-RIL’s strategy. He/she will lead strategy development and the technical design and implementation of high-quality programmes, approaches and activities. He /She will support national advocacy and influencing, while driving strategic partnerships for new business development. He/she will work closely with operations colleagues and with partners in Uganda building their capacity and building ownership and agency of local organisations. This role includes a focus on external representation on priority issues as defined by the Uganda Country Strategic Plan and U-RIL strategy.

Day centres operated by local civil society organisations provide vital community-based social protection services for children facing the greatest barriers to their wellbeing and development. In South Sudan, some children know the price of a sack of charcoal before they know the periodic table. Some can negotiate with customers before they can confidently read a textbook. Some learn how to survive before they are given the chance to discover what they might become.We often call this child labour.I think of it differently.I think child labour is the theft of time.

One daily truth we ignore is we treat the environment like WiFi. We only notice it when the network is slow or when it’s gone. But unlike WiFi, we can’t just reset the planet and try again.

Creating meaningful and lasting change for children requires more than policies and programmes. It requires strong partnerships, community leadership, and a genuine commitment to listening to children themselves. These themes stood at the center of the recent visit of Ahmad Alhendawi, Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe (MENAEE) at Save the Children International, to Kosovo, where discussions and field visits highlighted both the progress achieved and the continued need for collective action to protect and advance children’s rights.

As Save the Children Türkiye, with the financial support from MANGO and in collaboration with Mavi Kalem Association, we aim to strengthen access to education for children living in Esenyurt, enhance their well-being through child protection and psychosocial support services, and promote social cohesion.

Four major child-focused agencies launched the Joining Forces Somalia Chapter on 11 February 2026, uniting efforts to strengthen child protection laws, end violence against children, and amplify children's voices in policy decisions. Save the Children Somalia chairs the alliance, which will advocate for passage of key child rights legislation and conduct national research on the situation of Somalia's children.
