Save the Children has been working in Rwanda since 1994 in partnership with the Government of Rwanda and local stakeholders to promote a bright future for children, with experience working in all 30 districts of the country.
The main areas of focus are education, child protection, child rights governance and health and nutrition in humanitarian and development contexts. Our intention is to work to the highest standard for the children that we serve – a mission which we take seriously. We are a learning organisation that is extremely committed to constantly adapting and improving the way in which we work, with children’s and community’s voices at the heart of this.

Dr Yassin has worked for Save the Children since 2022. He is the medical doctor in charge of the c-sections and acting head of the unit. He describes the Save the Children facility as having very high standards. He’s an incredibly positive person with a broad smile and bottomless energy, which is lucky because he’s in high demand. He treats women and children with complications, carries out the c-sections on-site, and has his managerial role as acting head. Dr Yassin talks about the huge difference it has made to be able to provide C sections on site at the newly improved medical facility. He is inspired every day by the difference he knows he is making: "Our joy is that when you save a life, you feel joy inside you. You feel that ‘I am doing something that is helping people’." Rebuilding hope: JK's Journey to recovery in Musenyi Refugee Site
After fleeing violence in eastern DR Congo, JK, a 40-year-old mother of five, arrived at Musenyi refugee site in Burundi traumatized, separated from her children, and uncertain of her husband's fate. Through Save the Children's Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence programme, she received support that helped her regain confidence and begin rebuilding her life.

Financing Green Businesses bears in Rwanda
Access to affordable financing is helping climate entrepreneurs in Rwanda grow their businesses, create jobs, and improve the wellbeing of children and families. Through Kumwe Hub, Save the Children's child-impact investment initiative, ecopreneurs are expanding climate-smart solutions while contributing to more resilient and sustainable communities.
